Leading into this year's “legendary DAYTONA 500 race,” Chevrolet unveiled the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype. Even though it didn't compete, the concept pointed toward the future of electric racing. Here's an overview of its headline features.
High-Performance Electric Powertrain
Eschewing the classic V8, the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype is propelled by an all-electric powertrain. Three six-phase motors produce about 1,300 horsepower and reach up to 15,000 rpm.
A programmable all-wheel drive mechanism delivers precise torque to each wheel. It is built on a modified Next Gen chassis and sports competition-grade suspension and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires.
True Race Car Styling
Its look is derived from the “road-going Chevrolet Blazer SS EV,” but the EV.R's racing upgrades are prominent. A wide-body form and tall rear wing enhance aerodynamics, while the ultra-low ride height keeps it firmly grounded.
Motorsports Innovation
Chevrolet uses the EV.R NASCAR Prototype to validate innovative racing technologies, paving the way for future advancements in motorsport and production vehicles.
