What's New For The 2020 Chevy Equinox?

The Chevy Equinox, a compact crossover SUV introduced in 2004 as a 2005 model, is one of the most popular vehicles in the Chevy lineup. The Equinox was entirely overhauled for the 2018 model year and received additional changes for 2019 as well. As Chevy's only compact crossover, the Equinox plays a large role in the company's total sales and has broad appeal in a field crowded with many other brands. For 2020, Chevy has incorporated a host of safety features as standard equipment on every trim level. There will be several new colors to choose from, both on the exterior and interior. A new nine-speed automatic will replace the existing six-speed for the more powerful engine, and a new turbocharged engine replaces the previous top-of-the-line version.

The 2020 Equinox will come in four trim levels: L, LS, LT, and Premier. The L and LS models are the most affordable and features remote keyless locks, active noise cancellation, a rearview camera, heated folding outboard mirrors and a tilt/telescopic steering wheel. OnStar 4G LTE with a Wi-Fi hotspot is also included, as well as a six-speaker audio system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, USB port, and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The LT and Premium have engine upgrades available, dual-zone automatic climate controls, heated outboard mirrors and feature the Sun & Infotainment Package which adds a panoramic sunroof, an upgraded audio system, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. Heated leather seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and surround-vision cameras are extra features you'll find in the top models.

Standard on all models is the 170-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 203 lb-ft of torque, which is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. A more performance-oriented option for the two higher trim lines is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that pumps 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Both boosted engines are equally fuel-efficient.
