What's New for the 2019 Chevy Silverado?
Chevy engineers made the 2019 Chevy Silverado 450 pounds lighter than the 2018 model. Using varying thicknesses of steel allowed them to shave 88 pounds off the body and the same amount off the truck's frame.
At the same time, the truck became up to 3.9 inches longer. The truck's floor space got up to seven inches more allowing people to carry even more in the back of their trucks. Even with the weight loss, this model has a steel truck bed that is 150 percent stronger than in previous models. Helping to make sure that nothing ever flies out, the truck has 12 stationary tie downs and buyers are given the option to add nine more.
Engineers made this year's model more aerodynamic by giving it a steeper windshield, integrated roof spoiler and the loss of weight. In fact, most drivers will find that they have about a seven percent improvement in their fuel efficiency.
If you ride in the back seat or are tired of listening to people gripe who do, then you will be glad to hear that the engineers listened. The new model year has 3.8 inches more legroom than previous models with an amazing 43.8 inches.
Additional storage has also been added to the truck's cab. The rear seatbacks now open to reveal storage in them, and there is additional storage under the rear seats.
