The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country and Custom trim models are both ready for action. With their rugged performance features, handsome good looks, and modern creature comforts, these trucks have a lot in common. But, as the line’s top trim model, the High Country comes standard with more luxury features.

Performance

The 2020 Silverado 1500 Custom comes standard with the line’s base engine, a 4.3-liter V6 that makes 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission for a strong performance. The Custom also includes front tow hooks, cruise control, and power and heated mirrors for impressive utility.

The 2020 Silverado 1500 High Country comes standard with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that’s rated for 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It uses an eight-speed automatic transmission that optimizes fuel economy at high speeds.

High Country shoppers can also choose from a pair of optional engines. A 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel engine makes 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. An optional 6.2-liter V8 engine offers classic truck performance with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both the Custom and High Country can be had with optional four-wheel-drive performance gear, maximizing off-road capabilities.

Appearance

Outside, both the 2020 Silverado 1500 High Country and Custom trim models feature chiseled style and an imposing stance. The Custom is available with the double or crew cabin. The double cabin is paired with the standard bed, but the crew can go with either the standard or short bed. The High Country is only available with a crew cabin, which also can be paired with either the standard or short bed.

Compared to the Custom model, the High Country is equipped with extra exterior features. Its power-up-and-down tailgate offers easy access to whatever you’re hauling. The High Country also comes with a spray-on bedliner to protect the bed from your cargo’s sharp edges.

Features

By now, it probably comes as no surprise to you that the top-trim High Country comes standard with more in comfort and convenience features than the Custom. Inside, the Custom features all the modern basics, including air conditioning and a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment interface.

The High Country, on the other hand, is decked out in luxury features, including a premium seven-speaker Bose audio system. Leather upholstery, heated-and-ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats also come standard, taking your comfort levels to the max. Smart features include a wireless phone charging pad, so you can toss your compatible device onto the pad and forget about it. The High Country also features some high-tech safety features that you won’t find on any other Silverado 1500 trim model. Blind-spot monitoring helps you switch lanes without any difficulty. The lane departure warning system can sense when you’ve accidentally strayed into a potentially dangerous situation.

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom and High Country are both rugged and capable, but the High Country has a lot more to offer in terms of comfort, convenience, and performance.
